What a fabulous first week we have had!
The children have settled into the rules and routines of Year 2SS brilliantly and have worked so hard! We are looking forward to the year ahead and cannot wait to see the progress the children make.
Although we have only been in school for 3 days we have filled them with lots of learning!
In English, we have been busy reading our Read Write Inc text – A Jar of Oil. We have been focusing on spelling and sentence structure. Next week we will be developing our comprehension skills and will begin to write a letter to the Prince.
In Maths, we have developed our knowledge of place value by partitioning 2 and 3 digit numbers. Next week we will be using this knowledge to order different amounts before we move onto addition.
In R.E, we looked at the importance of symbols and discussed what they mean. We then designed our own symbol that would represent us.
In Topic, in groups, we researched different explorers. We then presented our information to the rest of the class before putting them into chronological order.
In P.E, we are lucky enough to be chosen to take part in Gymnastic lessons with Beth Twiddle’s academy. We had our first session on Thursday, which was enjoyed by all, and will continue to have these for the rest of the term.
Our Championship Point winner this week was Theo.
Our winning house was Self – Belief.
Reading books are due in at least once a week.
Home Learning is given out on Fridays and is expected to return the following Tuesday.
This week the children have been asked to access Active Learn.
Sergei is the class mascot who travels from Friday and returns to school on Monday.
Our P.E days are on a Tuesday and Thursday.
Have a lovely weekend,
Miss Szoltysek and Mrs Slater
